After months of teases, we finally have confirmation.
Daredevil will rise again.
As announced during a panel for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a new series titled Daredevil: Born Again is real.
It was canceled alongside The Punisher, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones.
An iron-clad deal prevented the characters of these shows from being used in future Marvel projects for a set amount of time.
Ultimately, Cox returned as Matt Murdock on last year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, and is even set to voice the character in a new animated series Spider-Man Freshman Year.
After making his full MCU debut in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Charlie Cox is getting his very own series on Disney Plus. During tonight’s Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con, MCU boss Kevin Feige announced that Daredevil: Born Again will be launching as part of Phase 5.
The new project will feature Charlie Cox, now wholly a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and will debut in Spring 2024. It will run 18 episodes.
Daredevil: Born Again will be part of Phase 5, which will kick off with Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantamania and continue all the way to Thunderbolts. Other shows include Ironheart, Agatha Coven of Chaos, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
There were over a dozen trailers, teasers, and announcements from Marvel Studios on Saturday at the San Diego International Comic Con (SDCC). Amidst all the hype about new Avengers titles, the Black Panther 2 trailer, and Captain America 4, it can be easy to miss announcements of some Disney+ series. But not when it is a fan-favourite character played by a beloved actor returning to the role after years of fan campaigns. That’s why Daredevil getting his own series starring Charlie Cox managed to get so much fan love despite being surrounded by such heavyweight announcements. As one fan tweeted, “The Charlie Cox Daredevil MCU takeover is absolutely insane. I’ve not seen a character get THIS much attention in the MCU before since Spider-Man.” Also read: Charlie Cox wants to play Daredevil till he is ‘too old for the part’
