The organizers of the GoFundMe campaign for voice actor Billy Kametz revealed on Saturday that Kametz passed away on June 9 of colon cancer. He was 35.

Kametz had revealed in late April that he had been diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. He said at the time that he was taking a break from voiceover work and that other voice actors would replace him for current and ongoing roles. He also said at the time he was moving back to Pennsylvania to be with his family.

A GoFundMe campaign launched on his behalf a few days after his announcement. The campaign stated the money raised would go toward travel, insurance costs, medical bills not covered by insurance, and everyday life necessities. As of press time the campaign has earned US$175,126 of the US$150,000 goal. The organizers of the campaign added they will close the campaign on June 14, stating anything contributed that hadn’t already been used for Kametz’s treatments would go toward his celebration of life and funeral. Kametz’s family will hold a viewing on June 15 and a funeral on June 18.

Kametz was born on March 22, 1987 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated Kametz had dreamed of becoming an actor since early childhood, and he got his break with Disney as an entertainment staff member on a Disney cruise line. He later played the role of Aladdin in Disneyland’s Musical Spectacular.

There’s some very sad news coming out of the voice acting industry today. Billy Kametz has passed away at 35 years of age after a battle with stage four colon cancer.

Kametz was well-known within the anime and video game industry. Nintendo fans will know him best as the voice of Ferdinand Von Aegir in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Heroes, and also Blue in Pokémon Masters.

Some other games he voiced characters in included Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (Rui), Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster (Raidou Kuzunoha), Triangle Strategy (Jerrom) and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim (Nenji Ogata).

He also voiced characters in anime series such as Attack on Titan, Boruto, Demon Slayer, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Josuke Higashkata), Pokémon Journeys (Ren) and Neon Genesis Evangelion (Shigeru Aoba).

In addition to his parents, Billy is survived by his sister, Nikki Kametz Lees, brother-in-law Greg, nephews, Cash and Jaxon of GA; Uncle, Peter Sartori, Uncle Tom Kametz, Aunt Barbara Trimble and girlfriend, Erica Lindbeck of CA.

There will be a viewing on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 260 E. Main St., Middletown, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 280 N. Race St., Middletown, PA with Fr. Timothy Sahd as celebrant.

Billy was so appreciative and blown away by the very large outpouring of support and love he received during his battle with colon cancer. He wanted everyone to know how much it was appreciated and thanks everyone, especially his fans who he loved so much.
